Tasha's History!

We adopted Tasha in August of 1998 from the local humane society. She was an adult, but it was difficult to tell exactly how old. Likely she had only been through a single cycle, so she was a VERY young adult. When the humane society got her, she had obviously been someone's pet, as she was wearing a collar (albeit too tight - she could hardly eat).

When we went to visit to find a cat to adopt, the holding room was crazy with meows and unhappy sounds. The only cat who was not completely disturbed was Tasha. She was sitting quite patiently in her pen, only meowing quietly once in a while. That's really why we noticed her. We had considered getting a kitten, but we knew that with our schedules, house-training a kitten would be difficult. So, we decided on an adult.

Tasha wasn't completely friendly when we first met her. She was way more interested in spending time with the attendant, which is really only logical. But she seemed to have a friendly disposition, and she had the greatest golden eyes. Plus, she was obviously still quite young, with more flexibility in her personality.

The first day we brought her home, she wasn't quite sure what to do. She made the rounds, checked things out, etc. However, at the end of that day, I guess she decided she would like it with us well enough. I remember distinctly sitting in a chair in our living room. Tasha was sitting across the room watching me. All of the sudden, she ran over, jumped up, and marked me on the face ^_^. I guess that meant we were ok.
